Eighteen-year-old Laith was born in Gaza and moved to the West Bank with his family after the war. He doesn't like going to the scene of the conflict. He likes to have Shisha every day. At this moment, he has just finished his work as a waiter on the night shift in the restaurant, and the owner pays for the Shisha.
十八歲的 Laith 出生於加薩,戰後隨家人搬到西岸。他不喜歡上衝突現場,只盼每天有水煙可抽。此刻他剛完成餐廳晚班服務生工作,水煙由老闆買帳。

The main road leading from the village of Kafr Qaddum to Nablus City had been blocked since 2003 due to the expansion of the Israeli settlement. Residents had been in lawsuits with the Israel Defense Forces for five years. They won at last, yet the IDF still closed the roads for security reasons. Since 2011, villagers have marched on the old road every weekend to protest. The soot on the ground was a sign of multiple armed conflicts.

As villagers marched on the old road, Israeli soldiers fired dozens of tear gas bombs every weekend and attacked houses of civilians in the middle of the night. Palestinian villagers burned waste tires as roadblocks and counterattacked by creating black smoke.
由於村民走上舊路遊行,以色列軍人每周末發射數十顆催淚瓦斯彈,並於深夜襲擊民宅。巴勒斯坦村民則燃燒廢輪胎作為路障,並製造黑煙反擊。

The Israel Defense Forces arrived at the center of the old road in armored cars and with rifles every weekend, launching dozens of tear gas canisters, rubber bullets, 22-caliber real bullets, stun grenades and other weapons at the villagers. The background of this photo was the settlement of Israel.

Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, mostly political prisoners, launched a hunger strike. People outside the prison launched a "Day of Rage" in response on the weekend. This was the Hawara Checkpoint in the West Bank of Palestine controlled by the Israel Defense Forces. A protester jumped into the air to dodge a bullet.

At the same scene of the "Day of Rage" at Hawara Checkpoint, female demonstrators picked up stones for throwing. Protestors wore masks in order to resist tear gas and protect the mouth and nose. On the other hand, they wore masks to prevent being recognized by the IDF. The common result of being recognized often led to their houses and family being attacked in the middle of the night, arrested and imprisoned.

In the sit-in tent next to the the landmark roundabout in Nablus, a woman held a photo of her 16-year-old son Raed Abed Aljalio who participated in the hunger strike. She rested silently with other prisoners' family members.

Near the central square of Nablus, several former prisoners with administrative detention, doctors, and teachers spontaneously set up tents to respond to the hunger strike of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons. This was the eighth day they live by merely water and salt.

An IDF vehicle drove over the separation wall between Israel and Palestine. In order to take a look at the other side of the wall, Ali, a college student, risked being arrested and shot but still to climb over the wall almost every month to Israel. Sometimes he disguised himself as a foreigner or an Israeli, and rode his bicycle across the checkpoint to Israel. He said: "I would rather take risks, otherwise I could never breathe freedom."

The Palestinian cartoonist Mohammad Sabanneh was arrested and imprisoned by Israel in 2013. At this moment, in his studio, he presented numerous manuscripts of the time to me. In order to prevent the jailer from discovering and destroying his work, he deliberately left identifiable details of the prison, such as fences, handcuffs, Star of David, and living spaces of prisoners.
